loadrt scale names=scale.spindle
addf scale.spindle servo-thread
setp scale.spindle.gain 60
Does anything stand out as an error?
Not really. Does the HAL parse the lines in the order here? or is there a
chance that it is attempting to set the gain before the component is
loaded.

Seems to indicate that the pin name is correct.

You could put "show pin scale*" in the HAL above the troublesome line then
start LinuxCNC from the command line. You should get a pin listing.

Where is the firmware (bit file) that is to be loaded found? I have a 7i43p 200K board.
The bitfile will be in /lib/firmware/hm2

But it sounds to me more like an EPP problem. I am confused by your
mention of a Mac.

However, I can’t get the “Axis” power switch to go “on” when I click it and I haven’t figured out whether I have the estop switch wired correctly to the 7i43 board via the 7i42TA. I can’t really tell whether the “power switch” problem is related to estop or some other kerfuffle.
It is probably an issue with the HAL pins iocontrol.0.emc-enable-in or
motion.enable. How are they connected in HAL (if at all)
